Behtiyar Sadir

Name: Behtiyar Sadir

Behtiyar Sadir is a 47 year old man from Urumqi in the Xinjiang province. He’s the father of three children. Behtiyar finished his university studies and was assigned to the transportation department where he worked for 15 years. Before resigning he held the position of Deputy Director of the Urumqi Southern Outskirts Bus Terminal. After his resignation, he became a nutritionist and started an accredited health consulting firm, Behtiyar Health Consulting LTD. He holds an official disability license from a severe burn where he lost all his fingers on one hand. Behtiyar’s parents have both passed away and he has a brother and sister who live in Sweden.

Behtiyar has had numerous interactions with police being flagged by China’s Integrated Joint Operations Platform (IJOP) surveillance system. On one account he was paid a visit for his car having not moved for a week only for it to be confirmed that the vehicle was being repaired. Behtiyar has also been flagged for “propagating extremism and terrorism” on behalf of his father watching religious videos (2013); both were put under surveillance in 2018 for this act.

In Oct. 2022 it was reported that he had been taken into custody while being sick with a fever from COVID. Sources say that he was arrested alongside 30 others because they all prayed together in 2011. The local police however report that he was detained for “posting photos he took during a night raid arrest” being charged with “revealing state secrets”. It’s presumed that Bahtiyar is still detained with his siblings in Sweden calling for help from the Swedish authorities in locating his whereabouts.

This is a well-documented case of what seems to be an upright member of society that happened to fall in the CCP’s crosshairs. This particular case raises more questions than answers.
